Hello everyone,
I just got this printer (HP Envy 7640) from my company. As I am working from home, I need to be connected to a VPN.
When I am connecting to this VPN, my printer (connected wireless) is not working.
As soon as I stop my connection to VPN, all my printings are done.
How to solve this issue?
My IT support explained me that the only why to make it work is to stop the wireless connection and to use a USB connection.
Do you have an other solution?
By the way, how to change from wireless connection to USB connection?? I found the solution the other way around but not like I need.
Thanks a lot for your help!!!
Kind regards
Juliette

Hi,
You may print to the printer from a computer connected to the same local network as the printer, by connecting a USB you can print from the same local PC to the pritner, you will not be able to print from the remote desktop, the PC and the printer must be connected to the same local network to print.
You should be able to use the wireless connection on the other laptop, as long as this laptop is connected to the local network and the printer is connected too you can print to it, by connecting the USB cable we did not disconnect the pritner from the local network and therefore wireless printing from other PCs on that network is available with no difference.
Hope that helps,
Shlomi

Hello Juliette,
While the computer is connected to a VPN, the printer is not expected to work through the local network.
You may find that listed on the user guife, on page 92:
If your computer is connected to a Virtual Private Network (VPN), you need to disconnect from the VPN before you can access any other device on your network, including the printer.

Your IT support are correct, either disconnect your computer from the VPN to use the pritner through the local network or plug a USB indeed while connected to the VPN.
To convert to a USB connection, simply plug a cable from the printer to your PC, an additional print queue will be added for the USB connection, simple select the queue once the USB is plugged and select the Network one once disconnected from the VPN, while pressing File > Print you will see an additional copy of the pritner with no 'Network' in its name.

Shlomi

Thanks a lot for your quick answer.
I succeeded to print a file while being connected to VPN using the 'no network' printer.
However, when I am on the remote desktop, I do not succeed to print anything from here.
Is it normal?
An other question, will it be possible to use the wireless connection on an other computer?
The other "personal" laptop will not be connected to the VPN.
Thanks
Juliette
