Just bought Deskjet 3545 last week.  Installed OK - but after just one week the **bleep** thing is always OFFLINE after being shutdown (either my laptop or the printer shut down).  Driving me crazy - basically have to reinstall "as new" each day.  Please help - I see others have similar issues.  NOTE: laptop has Windows 8.1 64-bit; pretty sure latest drivers installed - what a **bleep** mess.  Wishing I'd saved $100 and just bought a 5m USB cable.

Why can't I just switch th printer on or off line as I wish?

Not a strong tekkie - help appreciated

Hi Parulung,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! :smileyhappy: I see your HP Deskjet 3545 is showing as offline and you must reinstall it everytime the printer or computer power down, I would love to get you back up and printing but require a little more information:

1. How is the printer connected, USB or Wireless?

2. Do you get any error message when you attempt to print or it says printer offline?

I would like you to start here: HP Print and Scan Doctor- It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.

Please let me know what the PSDR finds, if you are still unable to print or scan please continue here: 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the HP Printer Will Not Print

Let me know the outcomes, I will watch for your reply.

Thanks,

Please provide the following relevant information so someone can help including:

Printer Model –

Operating System of computer -

Detailed Problem Description including all network devices (extenders, switches)-

Connection Method - USB, Hardwired LAN, Wireless, Wireless Direct? -

Make and model number of router and modem? -

Error messages - on printer screen and/or computer, any blinking light patterns? –

Is the printer plugged directly into the wall outlet?  Do not use any UPS, power strip or surge protector.  Yes this WILL cause the printer to drop offline and print strangely.

Do you think the printer is going to sleep and can’t wake up? -

If wireless, when the problem occurs, what is the status of Blue Wireless light on the printer, on, off or blinking? –

Power off printer and router.  Power on router and wait 3 mins, power on printer.  Does it connect to the router now?  What is the printers IP address?
