Hello.
I have an HP4620e All In One, a Netgear N300 Wireless Router and a Netgear range extender. I also have an XP based Dell computer (Dimension E510 32Bit) with a Linksys WMP54G wireless card that I am trying to connect to the printer with.
The Dell is out of range of the N300 but does successfully connect to the internet thru the range extender.
I have tried to connect to the 4620 through the HP driver software - but it cannot locate the printer - even when I input the IP Address. I believe the issue may be in trying to get the printer software to work through the range extender. What am I missing?

Hello there, Welcome to the Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience:)
I noticed your post about trying to connect through an extender. I would suggest checking out the article below to see some things someone else tried when using an extender. If there is still an issue, try avoiding the extender to see if the connection will go through successfully.

I hope you have a great day:)

Hello and thank you for your reply.
After my posting about the issue, I decided to take the range extender out of the picture and moved the computer closer to my router. No success.
I then carried the computer down to the printer, and re-ran the installation software. When asked I plugged the printer into the computer via USB. This also did not work.
The final fix was the following:
I had to turn off my Comcast-supplied Mcafee firewall, uninstall the printer software and re-install it. The printer found the computer and was able to print wirelessly. After this, i turned the firewall back on and brought the computer back to the original location. I re-establish my wireless link going through the range extender. The printer works fine.
I am now able to print wirelessly using the XP OS and when booting Linux Mint from a USB on this computer
Looks like the firewall was the issue. I am not sure if I needed to un-install the software and re-install it, but I am sure it did not hurt.
I hope this may be helpful to others and thank you again for your reply! Have a great day!
