Hi rjbarnar,
I see you are getting an error on your HP OfficeJet 8600 when trying to connect it wirelessly to your network. Can you please let me know the Exact model of 8600 you are using as well as the current Operating system?
If you have the base model of 8600 the N911a and are running Windows XP or Higher (Vista, 7 or 😎 I would like you to go ahead and update the Firmware of the printer:
HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a Firmware
Before starting the upgrade:
- The HP Officejet Pro 8600 Firmware flashing (upgrade) requires a wired network or a USB connection.
- DO NOT upgrade the printer firmware in a wirelessly connected printer.
- If the computer has a firewall installed or enabled, it may block the Firmware Download Utility from accessing the printer. Therefore, please remember to temporarily disable any firewall that may be on the computer, including firewalls such as Microsoft Windows XP Firewall, Sygate, Zone Alarm or BlackICE.
Please click on the How to install tab when on the download page and read all recommendations and the process before installing.
If you are using a different model of 8600, please reply back with that information.
Thanks in advance,
I work on behalf of HP
