HP Officejet 7610
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been having this probem over the past year.  I get a message that states:  "there is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn the printer off and then back on." I do this each time I receive this message. That does not correct the problem. There is no error code.

The printer is apparentely not reading the yellow ink cartridge correctly. I brought the printer to a HP repair store the 1st time it happened and they told me I had a defective yellow cartridge and found nothing wrong with the printer.  At that time, I replaced the yellow cartridge. The printer prints after I install a new cartridge. But a short time after that I start to receive the same message again.

Any reason why the printer will not read the "three quarters full" yellow ink cartridge?

I cant keep going out and buying yellow ink when I already have a yellow cartridge that is almost full.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I love this printer and do not want to have to replace it.

It is only 3 years old.

I have had HP printers for years and have never had this issue.

Thank you.

Welcome to HP Forums @Jer-Bear,

Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are facing an issue with your printer, where you are getting an error "Problem with Ink System". Happy to help.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?

Recommend you to remove the cartridges and check for leaks.

Clean the contacts and insert the cartridges back.

If the issue persists, perform a hard reset on the printer.
