HP OfficeJet Pro 8725 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer has started to print yellow ink as brown. I can't say exactly when this started; I have become aware of it as I have just printed some colour pages.

The print test pages are excellent; the only issue is with the golden brown colour printing instead of the yellow. I have tried three different yellow cartridges - all give the same result.

I have gone through the cleaning cycle down to level three, re-aligned the print heads and run a full diagnostic check using HP Smart and Print Doctor. No errors are showing and the printer is up to date.

I note that there was a recent posting with the same question, but that the solution was via a private message which I am unable to access.

@Paul271, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the print quality is not satisfactory and you have replaced 3 yellow ink cartridges already.

If you have tried all the steps from this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues, and the issue persists, I'm afraid the printhead has gone bad. This is a hardware issue.

Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer(under warranty).

Follow the instructions below to reach them:

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.

6) Fill out the webform and proceed further.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes, you may use this link to find the phone number of the regional HP Support team: HP Phone Assist Worldwide

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
