I just bought the HP M176n color laserjet pro MFP printer and I got it to start but its stuck in initializing and the green circle light and the orange attention lights won't go away. I can't see any jams, I've turned it off/on. It doesn't make a sound when I want to print a test page. Nothing. Please help. Thank you

Hi @bratily ,

I see that the new printer is stuck initializing. I will certainly do my best to help you.

I have included the document for Setting Up the Printer Hardware for HP Color LaserJet Pro M176n MFP Printers.

Some of the packing material inside the unit, can be mistaken for the printer parts. Please double check that all the packing material was removed. This document illustrates the different packing material to be removed.

There are the two orange rings to pull to remove the foam insert and the setup instructions.

I wasn't sure what steps you have already tried, so I am including these steps to try if you haven't already.

Disconnect the USB/Network/FAX and power the printer on Standalone.

Check and remove any packaging material inside the printer and toner.

Do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.

If the issue persists, perform a power drain by disconnecting the power cord from the back of the printer and keeping the power button pressed for 30 seconds and in case of a power switch keep the switch in ON position for 30 seconds before reconnecting the power chord.

Update the printer's firmware. Software and Drivers.

I can send a private message with some another step to try, once I know which model you have.

How will you be connecting the printer? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)

What operating system will you be using?

If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.

Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Thank you so much Sir,

I did try all of these steps with the online chat support employee and it still didn't work. He recommended I take it back as it was probably a hardware problem. Luckily, they were able to replace it as there indeed was something wrong with it. All good now.

Thanks again!
