automatic document feeder (ADF) doesn't detect paper

Thanks for the info , I cleaned everyhole around the sensor and  not sure which was right but works fine now.  Thanks so much for posting , I couldn't find an answer anywhere else and trashed my other hp because it did the same thing.

Can you tell me where these holes are that you cleaned? I am having the same issue and nothing else is working for me!

I cleaned in any of the little slots I could get a q-tip in , and that helped for a time or two, but I noticed when I insert the paper to be faxed if it doesn't recongise it , I just lift the lid with the paperwork in it and it dings and says original loaded , so I lower it and fax. Works for me , hope you solve your problem .
