Product: Deskjet 3630
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks

I put in the 63XL cartridge and get message it is not compatible

If your printer was sold in the US the 63XL cartridges would work, it may vary in different regions.  

 

I would suggest the troubleshooting steps in the document here.  If the steps there do not resolve the issue and the cartridge is an original HP (not a reman or refill) there will be a warranty for the cartridges (beyond the printer warranty), see the document here for information.
