i want to order a premade invitation that will be emailed to me, so i can print as many as i want, but i need to know if my deskjet 2540 is capable of printing on a thick paper such as a note card. just bigger.

aslo, if the image sent to me is such resolution, will it print as such?

This is a great location to get assistance. I read your post and see that you would like to know what paper types are supported by the printer. I would like to help you. 
 
I have provided a document with the printer's specifications, Printer Specifications for HP Deskjet 2540, 2545 Printers. Under Paper-handling specifications provides the supported paper sizes and weights.
 
You can click on the "Accept as Solution" if the issue is resolved and the "Thumbs Up" for my effort. Please keep me posted. Good Luck!
