My color cartridge isn't working right in this printer-- some colors are missing.  The cartridges are fairly new, and the level indicator shows that there is still plenty of ink.

I went to the Solution (ha, ha) Center and looked up the instructions.  I got to the point where they told me to click on PRINTER TOOLBOX, but when I did this nothing happened.  Why is this happening?  Is there another way to clean the print heads, eg manually. Thanks.

If it matters, I have the printer set up via cable, not wireless.

Hello robynbyrdnest,

I understand you would like to clean the printhead. I will do my best to assist you! First, I need to find out your exact model number. Click here to find out.

If you have a Deskjet F4580, did you open the Solution Center on your computer and try opening the Printer Toolbox? Please let me know if you don't have these options on this post. (This information is stated here.) You cannot manually clean the printhead using the printer, you have to use the Printer Toolbox.

  1. Click Settings ( ).
  2. In the Print Settings area, click Printer Toolbox . The printer Toolbox opens.
  3. On the Device Services tab, click Clean the Print Cartridge(s) ( ).
  4. Click Clean to begin the process.

I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night! Smiley Happy
