I hit the "x" to cancel the job, turned the printer off and unplugged it.  The print job will not cancel.

Thanks so much!  It works, but you already knew that. 🙂

Too bad that HP cannot put this tidbit of information on their new HP Printers when they change the way the printer actually works.  Before, you had a large red "X" to push to cancel a printjob.  No where in the small. cheap Quick Setup brochure do they tell you that you now have to push the small white "x" next to the word "printing"

Information Rechnology seems to be HP's acilles heel!

I ask how to cancele a printing job on  my HP officejet Pro 8610, I was told to hit the x and it would stop hat didn't work i wanted to know if there is a way to stop the printing , because pressing the X had me wast a lot of paper

bigfella6349...Not only do you have to hit the small 'X' at the top of the screen but you also have to hit the red 'X' at the bottom of the screen; and be quick about it.  Hope this helps.

Clicking the red X does stop the printing briefly. Printer quickly tries to resume printing. Pulling the paper drawer stops the printing but once the paper drawer is pushed back in place the printer starts printing again. What to do?

tommurrell...you have to tap the small x at the top before tapping the red x at the bottom.  After you hit the red x the printer will still pull a sheet of paper through but will not print.

Happened to me twice. Turn power off. Then go into the computer you used to send job to printer (I have 2), get into the printer site, look for print jobs, cancel the unwanted print job. Turn computer back on.

Where is "the top of the control panel will show . . . . "?
