I have a hp officejet 5610 all-in-one only 1 year & half (lightly used), a carriage jam message on it now & stop working.

I open the door, clear carriage jam, and press OK to continue.I have checked and cannot find any paper jammed in the carriage. Turned off printer, disconnected all connections, opened back door and could not see cause of problem. Opened front door, and could not see any reason for jam error.  Any suggestions on how to find a carriage jam and  fix it?

Hi,

It looks like you've tried several troubleshooting steps including those that are listed in this document.  I didn't notice troubleshooting that you've tried like in solution 6 of this document.

Particularly, leaving the printer turned on, unplugging from the power source (wall or back of printer), wait 15-30 seconds, plugging the power back in again.  This resets the printer and allows it to go through the "setup" cycle.  This has helped me in the past.

I did this step to reset the power, but no help.

My 5610 is displaying a "carriage Jam" message, but I don't see a jam.  how can i get this cleared?

I tried everything on the troubleshoot page but it doesn't solve the problem. The carriage slams left and right very strongly and the screen says paper jam. Can this be fixed or is the printer's life over? Thanks.

What may be causing the carriage jam ? I don't see any paper jam . I tried unplugging and plugging back in but the knocking left to right continues .

Hi bopeep41,

Try following the steps in the next link that covers the Carriage Jam error message.  Click Here  You can use this as a guide to verify all areas of the paper path are clear.  A flashlight can be helpful.

Good Luck !
