I was informed of the utility hp-setup that was installed with CUPS (for debian at least). It not only found the printer on the network, it also found a matching ppd-file and prited a PS test page.

Thanks for quick answer.
But unfortunately I have tried that. That is I havn't installed HPLIB on my host becasue it has no GUI support; its running as a server. And I only need the currect ppd file. I have browsed thruogh the source code tar ball varsion 3.14.10, but there is no ppd file matching my printer 😞 So if you coulde tell me which of the files in the ppd/hpcups directory of source code tar ball is an appropriate ppd file for my case I'd be more than thankful.

Hi,
Honestly I don't have much clue about a such, this forum expertize with Windows or Mac OS X, HPLIP will be a better resource for a such.
Generally, I believe the following knowledge article may help:
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/tech_docs/tarball_install.html
As well a google search lead me to the following download of HPLIP packages (through the CUPS site):
https://www.archlinux.org/packages/?name=hplip
Other then those I would suggest browseing the HPLIP knwoledge base below:
http://hplipopensource.com/node/293
or submitting a support ticket:

Regards,
Shlomi
