Hi,

I have a customer who purchased a used DesignJet T1300 which has an administrator username and password set up. I need to reset the I/O timeout for complex plots they are doing, but am locked out in what HP call a "deadlock". I am familiar with booting the plotter in diagnostic mode, but everything I have read says call HP for directions for the procedure to reset the password. There are multiple options on the disk wipe section (such as DOD wipe), but I'm not sure which one to choose. Anyone ever encountered this???

Thanks,

PrinterMaster

Hi,

Get in to Diagnostics menu > Touch Control Panel Lock Reset.

Then do a restore factory defaults from the Setup Menu

Best regards

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your response.  I booted the machine in diagnostic mode and  I did what you suggested but that did not solve my issue.  My issue is not that the touch panel is locked, but that an ADMINISTRATOR USERNAME and PASSWORD has been set by a previous owner of the plotter, locking me out of security settings and connectivity settings.  I need to extend the I/O timeout, but this is all locked.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Did you do the restore factory settings to the printer and I/O?

I mentioned the reset of the panel as if it is bocked too, you wll not be ale to do the restore factory settings from the SETUP MENU

If that still does not work, try a EEROM Reset, as a last step

Best regards

Hi,

Thanks again for your response.  I solved the problem without doing an EEROM Reset.

To clear an ADMINISTRATOR USERNAME and PASSWORD:

Simply go into SERVICE UTILITIES...SERVICE MENU...  enter 3174... scroll to RESET ACCESS CONTROL.

This resets access to the EWS and several other options blocked by the username and password

without distubing any other settings.
