Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

It gets to the stage when you connect usb cable to computer and printer and a red cross comes up with try again but nothing happens!!

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! After reading your post I see that you are unable to connect the printer to the computer with USB cable. I would like to help you out with this issue today.

 

Restart the printer and the computer.

Reconnect the cable.

Connect to a different USB port.

Try a different USB cable.

Disconnect other USB devices.

And Install the driver and set up the connection.

 

Click here to refer the document and perform troubleshooting steps mentioned above to fix this issue.

I tried all sandytechs ideas with no luck but get a message on the 'Devices' section saying 'set up incomplete because of metered connection' please what  do I now? thanks in advance
