my printer is printing words but very faint, the colour is not as vibrant as it should be,I have aligned and cleaned the heads and reprinted another test page but with the same faint printing of the words. My diagnostic test is showing enough black and colour ink,but it seems to me that this may be the trouble. With the cost of ink maybe i should just get another printer,All help appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Deskjet 2540 Printer. I understand that you are getting print quality issues and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

  • Allow the printer to rest.
  • Check the paper.
  • Check the print settings.
  • Check the estimated ink levels.
  • Align the printer.
  • Print a Print Quality Diagnostic page.
  • Check the test page for defects.
  • Clean the area around the ink nozzles.

Click here to refer the document and perform troubleshooting steps mentioned above to fix this issue.

Let me know how it goes.

I hope it helps and if you feel I have answered your question and concerns,

Please mark this post as a solution accepted and Kudos would also be appreciated.

Cheers.
