I used various connection schemes and no go. Any sugestion. There is a spliter supplied by phone company.Icould not figure out if a filter is part of the spliter. However my phone  and answering machine are working fine. Please help.

Hello-

Check out this link that describes how to set up the fax line connection. Your problem is probably in the splitter. You should have the phone cord straight from the wall to line one of the printer and your phone should be in line two. Make sure the splitter is not a filter from phone provider. Do you know if you have DSL Internet service ??
