I have a brand new out of the box Envy 7645.  So, I got it all set up with my Mac laptop just fine, but when I try to print with my desktop (Mac), it just shows "Printing" and the spinning ball of death on the printer screen.  I feel like I must have set it up wrong or something.  Clearly the message is going from my desktop to the printer bc it "wakes up" and pretends to print when I hit the "print" button.  But nothing else happens.

Thoughts?

Hello, @Amy-88 – Hope you are well 🙂

Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.

I see that you are having issues while printing using your new Envy 7645 on your MAC. Let’s try the steps mentioned here to try and fix the issue:

  • Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
  • Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
  • Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
  • Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
  • Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
  • Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
  • Restart your computer and then go back to System preferences – Printers and scanners.
  • Click the “Add button” (+).
  • Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
  • Click “Print Using...”, and then select the name of your printer (By default “Airprint” would be selected)

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Good luck 🙂

OK, so I really appreciate your help.. BUT.. No luck..  And, when I go to add a new printer, it pulls up like 4 different names

for the same printer..  I never know which one to pick..

For example...  it says:

HP ENVY 7640 series    USB

HP ENVY 7640 series Amy's Macbook Air    Bonjour Shared

HP ENVY 7640 series (1EA86B)  Bonjour

HP ENVY 7640 series FAX     USB

Strange enough I was able to hook up the printer to my laptop, and that works fine, but not my desktop...

Any other thoughts?

It looks like you were interacting with @Dvortex but he's out for the day

And I'll be glad to help you out.

The Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I Understand you've not been able to install the driver for your printer on your desktop,

here's what you need to do, delete all the drivers from the list you've mentioned and follow the steps, below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

That'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
