HP Officejet 6815 all-in-one

I keep getting an error message that the printer cover or door is open.

Clearly it is not.  So I don't know what to do.

The printer will copy and print a document.

It will scan and print a document.

It will not print a document that I send to print from my PC.

Help please. I have tried unplugging, shutting down, restarting, etc. Nothing fixes this problem.

I recently changed print cartridges but they look fine.

Hi Beth77,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! 🙂 I see you are getting a 'Door open' error message on your HP Officejet 6815. You are still able to make a copy on your printer.

Please follow the steps listed below:

1. Open start menu

2. Type "services" in the search box

3  Right click on "services" and run as administrator

4  Click on print spooler

5. In the left hand pane click "restart"

6. Close window

Retry a print from the computer. Did this help?
