Hi @longfam,

Thanks for visiting the HP community.  A good day to you. I came across your post where you require assistance regarding scan related issues on your MAC computer. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Splendid effort and a superb description of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂

  • Did this happen after a recent software or operating system update?
  • Does it make copies directly from the printer?

It looks like a driver issue here.

  • Please make 2 copies directly from the printer without any intervention from the computer to eliminate hardware issues with the printer.
  • If it copies fine, then reset the Mac printing system
  • Then add the printer. This should do the trick for you. There is an associated video for it also.
  • Then you could use HP easy scan to scan from the printer. You could try Apple image capture also if that does not work.
  • Finally, if nothing works, please reset mac printing system again and install the HP full feature software by clicking here and selecting the correct operating system.
  • This will definitely do the trick for you.
  • Please perform these steps patiently from these links one at a time and check if it resolves the issue. If it does you could ignore the other steps and links.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.  🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

Installed Easy Scan and can now scan with that.   But still not from the printer controls itself.  Keeps saying no computer found and I have enabled scan to computer in HP utility.   Thanks for help so far.

Hi @longfam,

I reviewed the super quick response. You've not mentioned if you reset the Mac printing system. That is the trick. There is an associated video on how to do it. Please perform all these steps patiently and should fix the issue for you.

Then add the printer. and it should work.

I request you to perform all these steps patiently and diligently so that the issue gets resolved.

If it still does not work, please install the full feature printer software from the link mentioned in my previous post.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.
