Hi Kevn51260,
Have you tried leaving the printer off for about 2 to 5 minutes, and then make sure it is directly plugged into the power outlet?

Hi pcwizard,
I do use a belkin & surgemaster equipment for computer & printer. Seperated printer onto its own surge protector when it started to have problems to protect HP Touchsmart desktop. Since my last post have seen two completely new error codes one of which I believe was 00729C98? Should I try removing or switching protection and plug straight into wall socket? One thing I have noticed is that if I engage power and then do not switch on for a few minutes printer does sometimes go into preperation cycle and is operative. On other occasions it is problematic switching on & off, lights blinking, warnings to shut down, etc.
Thanks

Hi Kevn51260,
Yes at this point i would suggest plugging the printer directly into the wall without any third party power protection devices between the wall and printer. It's possible due to the age of this printer it might having some issues with the power supply and or both the supply & PCA board. Let me know what happens?

Hi pcwizard,
Prior to reading your latest post my printer displayed an Ink System Failure message for the first time yesterday. Nevertheless, tried the direct plug in as suggested and this was initially successful with printer able to print, although it still turned itself on or off at times. Unfortunately, this morning printer is once again having problems and error codes B3261ADO and 83C00005 have displayed on touchscreen. Haven't been able to do anything with printer today other than shut it down using On button when error messages appear.

Hi Kevn51260,
Unfortunately it appears that the printer is having several hardware issues.
Have you considered getting a new printer?
If so, I can suggest a couple units if you let me know what functions you are looking for in a printer.

Hi pcwizard,
Well I suppose all good things must come to an end at some point on the electronics front. I have been looking online at the other available HP Photosmart all-in-one models, as the photo quality of these printers is outstanding and everyone I have printed a photo out for has been delighted with the result. I would appreciate your expertise in this direction. Apart from the occasional photo facility use, I use the scanner, and the printer for printing out a letter or the odd email received. This sort of basic activity. My desktop is a Touchsmart 600 PC using Windows 7 in terms of printer compatibility.
Thanks

Hi Kevn51260,
To be completely honest with you for the functions and different in cost I personal would consider the HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer as it is only $30 more than the HP Photosmart 6520. I currently have the Photosmart 7510 which was the printer right before the 7520, and I have had no issues with this printer. I hope that helps you make a choice on the printer you would consider. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi pcwizard,
I have been looking at the 7520, 7510 & 6520 models since my printer started to have problems. All appear to be being discounted at the moment, which means it makes it an easier decision to go for the newer 7520 model. From what I can see of it the 7520 also accommodates XL HP inks whereas I have only ever installed a large black ink on the C8180.
The way I look at it, you only purchase a printer once in a while so it's worth spending what you can afford.
Thanks for all your advice & assistance on this matter.
Best wishes
