Got a 3 month old HP Envy 7640.

All good for the first few weeks. Now got a horrid grinding noise when printing. Doesnt seem to matter if its thick or thin paper, grinding noise every time.

Any ideas or is it a long drawn out warranty process?.

Thanks all.

Hey @Paxmanmerv,

I see that you are having some issues with a grinding noise when printing from your Envy 7640 e-All-in-One Printer. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. Once done:

I know neither issue is what you are describing, but the troubleshooting steps should resolve your issue. If they do not, the printer needs to be replaced. You can contact HP Support by clicking on this link and filling out the form at the bottom to discuss options based on your warranty.

Please let me know the results after following the above. If you are able to stop the noise or reach some resolution, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.

I purchased a new HP Envy 7640e Printer and it has the previously mentiond grinding noise...right out of the box.

Following the suggested troubleshooting steps did not eliminate the noise.

Anyone have a similar experience...and success in eliminating the noise?

Thanks,

Mark

Welcome to the HP Community @BW_Mark🙂

I saw your post about the grinding noise, and wanted to stop in. As you've tried the troubleshooting and the cleaning of the rollers and other steps didn't seem to fix the problem, I would suggest calling phone support to have them replace the unit for you. Below I will leave the contact details.

Hit the "Accept as Solution" if we've reached a solution, and the "thumbs up" to say thanks for my help.

Contact HP:
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number
Case number and phone number appear
