I have an HP Photosmart premium printer and want to print booklets from Word 2010. When I do so, the text and photos come out compressed because the printer is putting in a border on the right edge. I need to print using A4 borderless but with duplex printing. I get a message saying these 2 are incompatible. How can I override this? If I print in A4 borderless, the text and photos look correct (and the same as on screen) but I need to print duplex as well.

Hi Katiepic,
Printing borderless and duplexing is not supported at the same time. You will need to manually duplex the job by placing it back into the paper tray to print on the second side.

Why, that is an awful mandatory setting. It compresses all the documents, just because you want it printed on both sides. That's the entire reason I paid extra for the printer that did double sided printing. Why don't you warn about this issue before we buy these things?

Hi DavidKelly,
Printing borderless (edge to edge) while attempting to duplex has never been a supported option on any of the printers that I am aware of. The issue has to do with the duplexing required to grab to paper to pull it back into the printer to print second side. If you are printing borderless (edge to edge) and then it attempts to duplex it will mess up the print on the first side printed. I hope that helps you understand the limitations of printing borderless and duplex at the same time.
