I recently purchased a HP Officejet 4500 Desktop all-in-one-printer. When I connected the power cords the machine would not power up. Never got the machine installed. The red exclamation point light flashes and the printer will not respond in any way. Display is lit but power light does not illuminate

Hi,
Have you referred the setup guide or poster or manual to setup the printer
Before Powering on the printer, we need to remove all packaging material from printer and the power on.
In your I am not sure if there was any packaging material tape left over inside.
Click here This document explains how to set up the physical parts of the product. Complete these steps before you install the product software on your computer

I followed the setup guide. When i got to the step in which you select the language/region i must have selected an incorrect value because that is when i received the "need attention" warning indicator light and have not been able to proceed further

Hi
Check if there is any message appears on the printer display and diagnose accordingly.
If you are getting red exclamation light blinking, it means user intervention is required.
Let’s try to diagnose this issue.
1. Power ON the printer and check if there is any message on the display.
2. Verify and Remove all packaging tape material from the printer.
3. Remove the print cartridges from the slot and check if any protective tap still left over, if yes then remove the tape. (Do not insert the printer cartridges yet)
4. Remove all papers from the input tray.
5. Now disconnect the power cord cable from the printer while the printer is in on condition.
6. Now Press and hold # and 6 while plugging in the printers power cord
Release both the buttons when the product control panel reads "Semi-full reset" . The product will now be reset. Sometime the printer turns off by itself, you may release both the button and use the power button to turn ON the unit, it will now read "Semi-full reset " and follow the instruction on the printer display to configure.
a. Select the language/region
b. Set the date and time
c. Install the cartridges
d. Load few plain papers in input tray and press ok to print the alignment page.
e. Now place the Align page on the scanner glass and press OK to complete the alignment process.
Hope this helps
