I have tried all the support offerings and ran all the diagnostics, printer is fine. Still prints purple when it's brown.

 Hello @StanSw,

The HP Forums is a great place to find answers to questions/issues you may have, welcome! I see you are running into some print quality issues with your HP Officejet 8500A Premium. When you print in brown the output is purple.

I would like you to start troubleshooting here: Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Officejet Pro 8500A e-All-in-One Printer Series

Any changes, are you now able to print in brown? I will watch for your reply.

I have tried 5 out of 6 of the print quality tests, and short of spending $66 for 1 printhead or $132 for two, none of these have worked.  Time to buy a new printer.

Hi @StanSw,

@HevnLgh is Out of the Office today, but I would like to provide another step to try and resolve this issue.

The printheads might be clogged up. Here is my own personal recommendation, not one of HPs, is to use the solution offered in this video. Only if the printer and printhead are out of warranty, you can try these steps.
This document is for removing the printhead from the printer and flushing the printhead out: How To Flush Out A Clogged HP 940 or 88 Printhead.

Hope this helps. Thanks!
