Hello there @jimjanbo , I hope you're well:)

The error code "0x803c010b" you are seeing on your printer normally means there is a printer failure within the unit.

My suggestions would be to try a power reset and ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help.

Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

You could even try plugging the printer in using a different wall outlet as well.

If the error continues, please give us a call to see what your replacement options are:

Hi there @mrsspiz , Welcome to the community!

I understand you're also seeing an error code, and cannot install the printer on your computer however, you can make copies successfully from the front of the printer. I will surely try to help!

Please tell me which printer model you have and the OS you are running on your computer, and I will look through the troubleshooting guides for you.

How Do I Find My Model Number?

What's my Operating System?

Thank you!

Thank you @mrsspiz !

Could you please click the link below, select "Windows 8" and go through the troubleshooting steps please, and let me know what exactly happens and if you run into any problems, errors, etc?

An 'Unable to Find Printer' Error Displays for the HP Officejet Pro 251dw, 276dw, and 8600 Printer S...

The error code normally means a "printer failure", so we will keep that in mind however, you are able to make copies so hopefully we can get through the installation without a problem with those troubleshooting steps.

Keep me posted on what happens! 🙂

Rebooting via uplugging didn't help in my case (I have a wireless laser printer).  I only avoided this error by adding a new port.

1.  First, open up your router settings web page by typing in your router's ip address in an internet browser.  Confirm the ip address of your printer (these change from time to time...which was most likely initial cause for my pain) by diving into the details of your router menu.  For example:  Cisco routers-- "Status" tab> DHCP Client Table

2.  Right-click on your  printer in "Devices and Printers" from your Windows>Control Panel.  Click on Printer Properties>"General" tab > Change Properties> "Ports" tab> Add Port

3.  Add a new port by typing in the confirmed ip address of your printer.  Be sure to disable SNMP Status in the configuration menu and disable bilateral spooling on the port page.

4.  Restart your print job.

I only recommend going through these steps if you are trying to save a print job.  It is much simpler to just right-click and remove the printer (then reinstall afterward), but it doesn't save print jobs.

Such a simple action to repair such a frustrating issue.  Thank you so much.

I have a Dell Ultra notebook and HP Envy 5530 all-in-one.  Now running Windows 10 but had the same problem in 8 with a Dell desktop.  I'm an informed user not a "super techy".

Every possible solution suggested on multiple tech sites has been tried from the basic unplug to troubleshooting, network configuration, changing ports, re-installing software and on it goes.  I've spent the equivalent of a full time job on the phone with HP Tech and Dell over the past year.  HP also suggested a newer version of the same printer which we purchased in desperation.

Everything works for a little while.  Then today it started all over again.  Printer offline, can't print.  Managed to get printer back online but still can't print.  None of the past fixes help.  Interestingly, a Sony Vaio connected to the same network can print.  The HP printer is active.  Network routers good.

So is it Microsoft, HP, Dell or some combination?  I'm not sure what to get rid of - the computer, the printer or move to an Apple platform since I never have problems with my iphone or ipad.

Hi

I too am now experiencing the same issue with message saying either the printer (any printer) is either offline or in an error state. The troubleshooter reporting the error code : 0x803c010c

This is on an new HP Pavilion laptop running Windows10 the printers were all working fine until a couple of days ago. re-installing the printer drivers has had no effect nor has disabling SNMP, or any of the other remedies suggested on this thread.  The only thing that has changed is some updates - I've tried uninstalling the most recent updates but one update doesn't have an uninstall facility (KB3139907).

This is causing me untold grieve, and wasting hours of my time. Unless I can get a resolution soon, I will have to revert to installing Windows 7.

I need Microsoft to provide a fix ASAP, quite obviously this issue has been around for quite some time, it is a fix that is long overdue.
