Hello,

I've been trying to update the driver for my OfficeJet 5740, but at some point, I'm asked to enter the admin password.

The fact is that I don't remember the password I initially set up. Is there a factory default password I could try? Or is there a way to reset the current password?  I read there's a full reset process?

Thanks for your help,

breezanil.

Thank you Greenturtle for the reset process. I just proceeded.

However, when I try to complete the driver update or try to access the admin parameters trhough web browser, it keeps asking for the admin password. And none of my usual admin passwords work.

Thanks for you help.

Hi,

Can you ensure that you have updated the latest Firmware for the printer from this link?

After update, try the EWS again and if it is still prompting, try the Reset.

Hope that helps!

Well, that is exactly what I intended to do initially, when I first encountered the "enter admin password" problem.

So ok, I tried again the latest driver installation, following the given link. A popup "fax configuration" appeared again asking for admin password. I canceled and managed to go further in the installation process.

Then at the product registration step, the windows stays blank. I close the window.

Then I did the reset as you explained.

Finally, I tried to access EWS and the Scanning tab or the parameters tab, but it still asks for the admin login and password.

Hi,

We're not suggesting that you install the software but to update the FIRMWARE.

Ah ok, sorry...

Anyway, the firmware update tool says my printer is up to date.

Any other idea?

Thanks
