When I start scanning a document, it only allows me preview or scan one page, I can save one page per file, then how to combine the files into one.  I read previous blogs, to open all files at once in preview, could not open, and there is no thumnails in the view to drag one page over the others.   Please help.  Screen shots may help me understand.

Hi,

Please try

Double click printer icon on desktop,
Select Scan a Document or Photo,
Put the first page on the glass (face down),
Check options (size, dpi ...), and select Scan document to file,
Click Scan - machine will scan the first page
Remove the first page on the glass, put the second page,
Click + (plus sign) It sits on the left hand side of a red x
Machine will scan the second page, put 3rd page on the glass and click + again ..... to the end then click Save
  Click Done after Save

If no luck. You can scan multi files and merge them to one file using the following software:

 http://www.pdfsam.org/download/

This free product allows you to Split one big file to many small files (such as extracting chapters from a thick book) and also to Merge many pdf files to one pdf file.

Regards.

One further clarification to add - please ensure the scan resolution is set ad 300 DPI or a lower resolution, then the option to scan more pages should be avialable within the Scan Prewview dialog.

Sorry, I tried your proposed answer, could not find the red + sign on the left hand side.

One reply tells me to call +!844-798+!896.  Do you know if the ! should be a "1" instead?

This is my experience:

I clicked on scan a document, this screen popped up:

Scanner HP Deskjet F4400, with profile, source, colour format, file type, resolution 200, brightness and contrast, preview, scan and cancel button.

There is a box preview or scan on different files (but no response upon clicking or unclicking the box)

I clicked scan, then a new screen popped up saying scanning page 1, upon finish

another screen popped up,

import picture and videos, tag the picture (optional), once tagged a name, then go to the screen "import pictures and videos" with a preview.

There is no indication at all to allow scanning page 2.

I still wish to find out how this HP scanner works rather than trying the weblink you provided with split / merge pdf files.

Many thanks for your advice.  It is much appreciated.
