i am trying to set up my all in one printer to fax with an extension phone. I used the black phone cord that came with the printer to connect the HP to the other phone. i followed the instruction on the manual for

"To send a fax manually from an extension phone"

1. Load your original print-side down in the right-front corner of the glass or print-side up in the Automatic

Document Feeder.

2. Touch Fax.

3. Dial the number by using the keypad on the phone that is connected to the printer.

NOTE: Do not use the keypad on the control panel of the printer when manually sending a fax. You

must use the keypad on your phone to dial the recipient's number.

4. If the recipient answers the telephone, you can engage in a conversation before sending your fax.

NOTE: If a fax machine answers the call, you will hear fax tones from the receiving fax machine.

Proceed to the next step to transmit the fax.

5. When you are ready to send the fax, touch Send Fax Manually.

NOTE: If prompted, select Fax Black or Fax Color.

If you were speaking with the recipient before sending the fax, inform the recipient that they should press

Start on their fax machine after they hear fax tones.

The telephone line is silent while the fax is transmitting. At this point, you can hang up the telephone. If you

want to continue speaking with the recipient, remain on the line until the fax transmission is complete.

once i get to to step 5 there is no button that says send fax manually. and if i just press "black" it asks me to dial the number again but, i already dialed it on the other phone? i think i might have connected the lines wrong. i do not know how to fix it!!!

Thanx for any and all your help.

Hello jvalle,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand you're trying to send a fax using an extension phone. I will do my best to assist you! First, I need to find out what type of printer you have? Click here to find out: Model Number.

The 2-wired phone cord that came with the printer should be in 1-line at the back of the printer.

Once you verify your model number, I can assist you further.

Have a good night! Smiley Happy

Thank you for this updated information.

Could you verify what type of added features you have on this fax line, just to make sure everything is set up correctly?

  • If you have an answer machine, please provide the rings to answer.
  • Do you have this fax cord into 1-Line at the back of your printer?
  • Do you have a fax cord in 2-Line?
  • Please list any other added features on this post please.

I just want to make sure you did perform the steps correctly, please let me know:

1) Did you touch the fax button on your printer?

2) Did you dial the number by using the keypad on the phone that is connected to the printer? (Don't use the keypad on the control panel of the printer, you must use the keypad on your phone to dial the recipient's number.)

3) Are you using the extension phone for engaging conversation or you want the Photosmart 7525 to receive the fax?

I will be looking forward to hearing from you again! :generic:
