Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have two computers, both running the same exact version of Windows 10.  Both are connected wirelessly to the HP PRinter and the printer is dectected on both computers.  On the desktop, all is well and it prints fine.  ON the laptop, I get the error that the driver is not available on the Printers and Scanners page.  Sometimes the printer is not even listed.  When I try to install it, it is immediately found but when the install finishes, I get the same error about no drivers.  The printer usually doesn't show up in apps that print and even if it does show up, it won't print.

I've tried restalling the HP software and it never finishes, giving an error message at the end that it couldn't install the software.  I've also run the Printer and Scanner Doc software and it tried to correct the problem and was unable to do so.  Yet from the printer doc software it was able to print out the wireless network rest results and all passed with flying colors.  It finds the printer, gives the ink results, etc.  So the printer is online and there but still I can't print from any apps on that computer.  I've tried uninstalling the printer from device manager (where there are 2 instances on both computers.)  I can uninstall one of them, but when I try to uninstall the other, they both come back...and yet the printer isn't showing up when I go to the printers page.

I'm very frustrated, as there seems to be no solution and now I can't print from my laptop.  How can I get this working?

@JoA97,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are unable to connect wirelessly to your HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer.

This issue could occur if the drivers are not installed properly or the firmware may not be updated.

Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the links to uninstall and reinstall the drivers:

Step 1: Uninstall the Drivers:

Please follow the steps provided to uninstall the printer software in the link: Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows)

Also, please follow the steps provided below to completely remove the printer software from printer properties.

Steps to remove printer driver files from Print Server Properties:

  1. Open the Print Server Properties dialog window by doing one of the following:
    • Click the Start menu and in the search field type 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click it in the search list.
    • Press WINDOWS-R on the keyboard to bring up the Run window, type in 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click OK.
    • From the Start menu or the Start screen:
    • Open Devices and Printers.
    • Select any printer and then click "Print server properties" at the top of the window.
    • Click on the Drivers tab.
  2. Select the printer driver you wish to uninstall.
  3. Click the Remove button.
  4. Select "Remove driver and driver package" and click OK.

Step 2: Download and install the Drivers from the link: Full Feature Software and Drivers

Step 3: Update the firmware from the link: Firmware Update

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

I must have the latest printer firmware, because the application sees the printer but it is greyed out and does not allow me to select it.  Also, it says "up to date" in the last column.

Since I have already put the computer back to the windows version that last allowed printing, I cannot test to see if the complete removal of the software drivers would help on the installation.  I know I tried to install many, many times using all the tools that HP provides, such as Printer and Scanner Doc and the automatic repair tool that can be used after a failed install.  If I have the problem later when I update to Windows 10 Creator (on the laptop), and can't print, I will give that a try.  I have no problem printing from Windows 10 Creator on the desktop, so I think there must be something else preventing the installation of the drivers.

Thank you for responding.
