Hello,
I see by the posts that you are having issues printing on card stock.
I have provided the data sheet for the printer. HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer.
Media Types Supported: Paper (plain, inkjet, photo), envelopes, cards, HP premium media, iron-on transfers,
borderless media.
Media Weight Supported: 16 lb to 24 lb.
I would suggest to install a generic driver to see if the different paper types will help resolve this issue.
On the computer, go to Start, Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer and select Printer Properties.
Click on the Advanced tab and click on New Driver, then select Next.
Select HP Deskjet 9800 from the list or the Deskjet 990c, click Next, Finish and Apply the settings.
(you can always go back and change it back to the original printer driver)
Check the paper type options for Card Stock or Heavy paper and try printing again.
What is the weight of card stock you are using?
If you appreciate my efforts, please click the Thumbs up button below.
Thank You. I look forward to hearing from you.

i did not try instialling the different drivers, especially after i found the online specs that the envy 4500 only supported up to 24 lb paper. the paper i had was 110lb 5x7.
i went to office max/depot and bought the HP officejet pro 6830 which on its specs listed 110lb as a supported media and had a selection for 'thick paper' in the print setup box.
the 6830 is printing on this paper as i need it to. although if i try to print 30 sheets at a time it will stop about halfway through, and just cancel the job, no reason just cancelled job. a minor annoyance considering what i went through to get to this point but i just atart it up again and it will print a bunch more, have not ruined a single print or paper as the envy did many times with the artwork not being registered properly on the paper.
in talking with a few salespeople at a few different stores selling HP product i determined that none of them really have ANY knowlege about most printers ability to print on cardstock or heavier weights. one associate at staples tried telling me nobody would have a printer to handle cardstock or heavyweight unless i got a commercial printer, and another associate at officemax tried to tell me that ALL HP printers can print on cardstock and that is what HP told them, which also is what seems to be told to many people online and on these forums by HP associates...
but i would reccomend everyone go to the specs page of the HP webiste and see what paper weights are supported!
by the way the officejet pro is on clearance or closeout right now at officemax/depot, i got it for $99! same price as what the very bisic envy is going for right now at most places.

i have recently bought a hp envy 4507...which has been great for everyday printing. I am trying to print on card (not too thick) my last printer could print on the same card with no problems, but this one will not! just feeds the card through... sounds like its printing then says paper jam, yet will work fine with normal paper and small photo paper, i am trying to print on A4 card. i have spent the past two hours trying to print (wasting lots of expensive card as it just bends and marks the paper from the printer rollers) and searching the web for a solution... i'm just about ready to throw it out the window!!! People seem to be having a the same problem. i have tried all the suggested trouble shoot solutions with no luck. i was sold this printer with the advice that it will print on card 😞 feeling very dissapointed.. please help!!

Georgie,
that printer cannot print on cardstock. i think i was able to get it to print on 67lb but that was the most. my advice... stop trying you will just ruin your paper or waste ink like i did.
best buy, office max, staples... all the sales associates will try and tell you that it can but they dont know what they are talking about. if you find the actaul specs for it straight from HP you can see it really only supports lighter weights.
I stopped using the envy 4500 and sold it, i got the officejet pro 6830e from staples, its on closeout for like $99 right now and it printed on heavyweight cardstock no problem for me. if i tried to print more than 15-20 pages at once it would stop and i would have to just restart the job, but it didnt ruin any paper or misprint anything. im happy with that printer for the cost. its bigger though and not the best for TRUE photo quality, but more than enough for the invitations and graphics stuff i was doing. go get one 😉

I have the HP Envy 5530 and am having problems printing on cardstock. I have printed on it before but the last few times it misfeeds and starts the middle of the picture at the top so only prints half the page. I have cleaned the rollers and everything I can think of but continue to have this problem

Hi @Bmfagan,
I see that you are having issues printing on cardstock. I would be happy to help you.
Make sure the correct paper type and paper size is selected in the print driver.
HP Printers - Printing and Changing Print Settings (Windows).
Here is a document for a A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays on the HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One and Deskjet Ink Advantage 4510 e-All-i... I wasn't sure if this was the steps you have already tried.
I have provided the specifications for the printer.
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
What weight is the cardstock? (it may be too heavy or the paper type selected causing this issue)

I just set up my new HP Envy 4502 and had the exact same problem with card stock. It would start printing somewhere down around 2 inches into the graphics. I followed your suggestion re: changing to the 9800 Driver, very easy to do. First I tried the glossy 110 lb card stock again, same problem. Then I tried a 110 lb matte (non-glossy) stock and it printed correctly. Then I tried the glossy again, this time it messed up again, however, I noticed that rather than starting to print 2 inches into the graphics, it was just 1 inch. I tried the glossy again, (this time with a different design), and it worked perfectly. I went back and tried my orig design again and wala! It finally printed properly on the 110 lb glossy card stock. Not sure why the repeated attempts were necessary but along with the new driver they finally enabled me to print on the heavier glossy and matte card stocks and the print quality is excellent. Thank you for your suggestion re: the driver. I was ready to take the printer back, but now I'm good.
