I have the same issue.  I can print one document from any application. Then, I cannot print another one unless I reboot the computer. Adobe freezes, Word gives the message "Word is preparing to background print the document" and then freezes.

I have tried the "doctor" tool, reinstalled drivers, reinstalled HP software from CD...

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium

Hello,

I see by the post yous are having the same error that the hpmsn118.dll has stopped working.

I can help you.

Here is a link with about the status notification popup and various ways to disable it either through the driver settings, management tools, or by modifying the registry. HP UPD - Manage Status Notification Pop-ups.

Hope this helps resolve your issue.

Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Finally I think this problem is resolved! I have looked on this forum many times in the last few weeks, tried some suggestions, but nothing helped. This simple fix seems to have done the job. (I was even looking at new printers, but mine prints beautifully (when it prints!))

Thank you firebirdone - I think you are a Guru now! Orchidiva

I saw your post that you were able to figure out how to fix it. Can you please tell me how to fix, I can not get to properties.
