I have the hp psc 2410 all-in-one.  Last week I used it to print off some photos that I had scanned and it worked great, today I turned it on to print and the following has happened.

1)  The hourglass is stuck on the screen.

2)  It makes a noise as if it is trying to scan, the scanning bar/light moves only slightly and then it makes a noise that sounds like it is stuck - a constant almost "hitting the wall" sound.

I tried to use the trouble shooting page offered by hp - I replaced the ink with new cartridges (just incase it was happening due to having low ink) and that didn't work either.

I checked to make sure there was nothing waiting to be printed, cancelled all printing, just incase.

I'm now trying to print a diagnostic utility page and nothing is happening, however by trying to print this sheet it stopped making the "hitting the wall" sound.  However, the hourglass is still stuck on the screen and I am now "stuck on stupid".  I don't have anymore ideas.

Anyone have any advice on what the issue could be and how to fix it?

Thank you in advance for your help.
