i have new drivers to make my 5940 printer work with windows 10 it want feed paper. Help

As stated above, I recently downloaded new drivers to make my HP 5940 Deskjet printer  to work with Windows 10 operating system. The printer  sees print commands but will not feed paper.  I then get a out of  paper warning.  When I put this printer back on the XP computer it works normally.  I have asked the people at Best Buy if HP makes a printer that works with Windows 10 and cannot get a deffinate answer.  Its like you pay and take your chances.

You can use the in-OS drivers for your Deskjet 5940.

Here's how to install the in-OS drivers:

Win 10 In-OS drivers

Follow these steps

1. Right-click on the Start button (Windows icon)  select "Control Panel"

2. Under "Control Panel", select "View devices and printers"

3. Select "Add a printer"

4. If it finds your printer (assume you have your printer plug in via USB on your computer), follow the steps to install the In-OS drivers.  Else, select "The printer that I want isn't listed" > Next

5. In the next screen, select "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings"  > Next

6. Select "Use an existing port:" > Next

7.  Click on "Windows Update"  Note that the"Windows Update" may take up to 10 minutes depending on how fast your broadband speed is". Select HP and find the Deskjet 5900 series (as shown)

 

 8. Click "Next" and follow the remaining steps to install your printer driver.

HP printers selling in the market today ALL  supports Windows 10.
