Hi!
Printer, Deskjet 2000, J210a. Using iMac OS X Mavericks updated to 10.9.4. Printer worked perfectly on OS X Mountain Lion. Have had printer probs since initial upgrade. In order to print, I have to disconnect then reconnect power supply to printer each printing session, and then, often in any one session if have several 'jobs'. Opening System Preferences and clicking on Printers and Scanners, I get the error message 'Could not load Printers and Scanners preference pane'. Have uninstalled HP file, reinstalled by downloading from online, as disc that came with the printer ios no longer of any use, and have checked that I have the latest driver, version 2.3.1. I am at a loss as what to try next. Anyone have any idea of what the problem might be? Thanks.

Welcome to the forums @gran100 ,
I read your post about the issues you are having with your Deskjet 2000. I would suggest the following steps to remove the printer, repair permissions and re-add the printer.
- Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system (this deletes all printers)
- Repair disk permissions
- Restart your Mac
- Re-add the printer (do not use the AirPrint driver) HP Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers - Mac OS X v10.8, v10.9
I hope that helps!
Have a great day:)

Thanks so much for your response. Looking on line, it seems that SO MANY people have the same problem as mine, after upgrading to Mavericks. If this assists me, I sure hope many other 'sufferers' see this and it may help them too. Will retry uninstalling etc as yo've suggested and will report back when done. It may take some time though, as uninterrupted computer time is a luxury for me, yet if interrupted, I loose the thread (plot?) and then am SUNK. As you may gather, I'm new to Apple, and NOT a computer boff. 😉
