G3110
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Several years ago I purchased a little Emachine (64 bit W7 -- it was probably Home version)). I installed the scanjet G3110 without a hitch -- worked great.

Recently the Emachine died. I got another non-descript win 7 (pro) 64 bit machine but the scanjet will not install. Error says "the operating system is not supported. Installation cannot continue until this is resolved". Now that I look at the install disk it says it is for Windows Vista, XP pro, XP home, and 2000. What gives?

iI use Avast antivirus software -- just like before..

Is there something I'm overlooking? Is there a way to install it?

Thanks,

Jim

Whoops, it just showed up on the devices schedule. So I did a scan from the device mgr. Worked!

For some reason the buttons don't work onthe scanner. Maybe a cockpit problem.  but it is installed and it works.

So I think I'm good.

thanks for your help and patience.

Hello Mornings,

How are you installing that old scanner onto the new Win 7 machine?

Are you using the disk that came with it? If so, dont use it now.

Uninstall any thing that you may have installed so far for the scanner, then install the latest driver version.

If you havent done so, download the latest full featured software for Win 7 from this link:

Scanjet drivers download G3110_20_0_0_02.exe

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks so much for your help.

I installed HP Support assistant. When I try to detect the device(G3110), it says, "not found". I have the power on to the device and the usb cable is connected (win 7 recognizes something is plugged in). I tried another USB connection just to be sure.

I also have an HP printer already installed so I scanned for it. It recognizes the printer.

Thanks,

Jim

???  OK so besides the HP support assistant, did you iinstall the Full Feature driver/software from the link I gave you above?

HP Recommended

Well, I downloaded "HPSupportSolutionsFramework-12.0.30.81.exe" and excecuted it. It installed both HP Support Assistant and HP support Solutions Framework. I clicked the Support Assistant and then "add a device". I didn't see anything else I could do.

after the above reply I went back into the Assistant to see if there was anythng else I could do. I found a download of drivers and such -- but I think it was all for my printer. It installed but it didn't change anything. The computer still does not recognize the scanner.

OK so basically you and I are not operating on the same page here.

HPSupportSolutionsFramework-12.0.30.81.exe is not the link I gave you to download.

I asked you to install Scanjet drivers download G3110_20_0_0_02.exe which is not the same thing.

SO again I ask you to install the FULL Featured Drivers from the link above. I just tried it and it installed the Full software for your scanner.

Let me know how it goes.

OK so hang on and Ill double check the model number you gave me.

Sorry, my bad. I had clicked, apparently, on the wrong download. I'm installing what you sent now.

Lol no problem then. Let me know how it goes.
