Does anyone know the printer and label icons (symbols) used by HP for the different ink colors?
Symbols like pentagon, circle, triangle, and square.

Hi @SoftballJim,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! 🙂 I see you are interested in the ink symbols listed on the ink cartridges for your HP Deskjet 3520.
You can find this information on Page 29 in your User Guide, the symbols essentially tell you which slot the cartridge goes in inside the printer, I imagine this is for people who can't see colors properly, the symbol ensures the cartridge will go in the right spot.
I hope this answers your question.
Let me know the outcome.

Thank you for your reply.
Your "solution" is no solution, a typical HP "solution": "it's in the user's manual".
No, it is NOT in the user's manual. If you looked there yourself, you will not find it.
Before I posted to this forum I had checked the user manual for this printer, and for a couple of other HP printers I have used. No help.
I lthought the forum was supposed to be a helpful place. You were the only one to come forward with a possible solution, but then that's not surprising - that's your job.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. As stated in my original reply 'the symbols essentially tell you which slot the cartridge goes in inside the printer, I imagine this is for people who can't see colors properly, the symbol ensures the cartridge will go in the right spot.'
Also listed on Page 31 of your User Guide it states 'Match color icons, then slide cartridge into slot until it clicks into place'.
All the symbols do is ensure the cartridges are put in the correct spots inside the printer, as mentioned in my earlier post. 😉

No, you did not answer the question asked--what do the SYMBOLS mean in the chart. The TRIANGLE, SQUARE, AND PENTAGON in the list of "supported print cartridges" . My HP B8350 takes a TRIANGLE on the left and a SQUARE on the right OR it can take a TRIANGLE on the left and a PENTAGON on the right. Those must equate to something and its not the color on the packaging (orange or green). You should refrain from speaking to people like they are idiots. Trust me, we've only come here as a last resort--because NO ONE ELSE KNEW and it wasn't in the manual. My printer can take a 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 95, and 98--it only has TWO SLOTS.
OMG I got it! The TRIANGLE is TRI COLOR
The SQUARE is PICTURE and
THE PENTAGON is Black.
It was too simplistic to even make sense. It still doesn't make "sense" but its all I can figure. Good luck! I'm sorry that the HP person was such a condescending bleep bleep.
