Our printer LASERJET 500 MFP – M525 has been displaying a “Pick Sesor” error. Believe it is worn out as the paper is not pulling through as normal. we have also received the following message on the printer: 31.03.36 Pick Sensor Warning

Attached is information on your error.  If the unit is under warranty, I would call an authorized support provider to repair if not a paper jam.   If the sensor flag is bad the adf will need to be replaced.

The above link will not work for an M525c, as stated in the document: This error will NOT display on the M525c. The ADF for the M525c uses an ultra sonic pick sensor. Currently working on an M525c that is displaying the same error. The ultra-sonic sensor is the circle indention that is to the left of the seperation pad.

The error would only appear after a document is sent through the ADF feeder, once I open the document feeder and close it the error clears. With this 31.03.06 "warning" present, the document feeder is still functioning. Will repost once I have a resolution.

Did you ever find a resolution for this?  I am having the same issue on an HP Laserjet M725.

Thanks!

Not an iron clad answer yet, but we narrowed it down to the new formatter we received. It's looking for a mechanical sensor and not an ultra-sonic. We removed a formatter from a machine fresh out of the box and no errors. We placed the replacement formatter into the new machine and it coded out our scanner. From our results, it appears the m525c formatter board may have been hard programmed for the 525f, but not certain. And we definately know it's not incorrect hardware. Hope this helps.

MBoehler, is the RAM installed on your M725 formatter? On our end, for HIPA purposes our client removed the HDD and the RAM. We were using a spare HDD to service these machines. The ultrasonic sensor requires the RAM to be in the machine to work properly. That solved the problem on our end. Let me know if this helped. Thanx

Nothing internal to the machine has been replaced, including the formatter, HDD, and RAM.  I actually haven't even opened that part of the machine to take a peek.

The scanner assembly had been replaced a couple of months previous, but I don't know that that had anything to do with it.  The firmware is also on the latest version.

I replaced the DADF to see if it will take care of the issue.  If the customer calls back, I will know if it did or not.

Thanks!

I am having this same issue, I have a 525c that thinks it has a 525f ADF on it. We replaced the laser scanner a while back and DC Controller. Now it's popping this error 31.03.36 pick sensor error. we never replaced the formatter. Was this ever resolved for you?

HP Recommended

In my case, replacing the DADF did not resolve the problem.  We ended up swapping out the machine.  I never replaced the formatter, dc controller, or HDD, so I cannot comment on that.
