Hello,

I have a couple of Laserjet 4100s (don't laugh, they are old but tanks and continue to work great). Lately we've had a few issues where an occasional print job would start spewing out many pages of gobbledygook. I haven't been able to figure anything out on the problem, but thought a firmware update couldn't hurt. Turns out the firmware on the printer is from 2000. I downloaded the firmware update from 2005 but can't get it to install succesfully. I was not able to do it properly using an FTP client (it would try to print the firmware file), so I installed the latest HP Web Jetadmin program 10.3. In that system, I added the new firmware to the repository and 'qualified' it, but the printer shows no firmware update available and I can't select the new firmware when I'm in the firmware update page.

If I go to the Repository page and select Upgrade Firmware, Device Firmware, This 4100 printer, then the Firmware page is empty.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

-Derek
