I just purchased a laserjet pro 400 mfp m425dn printer/phtocopier and I can't get it to connect to our network. I've plugged it into the router and it says "cable disconnected" with no IP address. I do not have the USB cable to configure the machine and I was hoping to do it over the network (which I am told is an option). I don't know if that has something to do with it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you plug it into the router it should pull an IP address, if it's his cable disconnected then you could have a bad port on the router, a bad cable or a bad printer.
Plug something else into the same port with the same cable and see if it works, if it does you have a defective printer and need to return it and get a replacement.
You might also be able to get someone to replace the formatter which has the network port on it.
