This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you want to know how to connect your HP LaserJet 1012 printer to the computer with USB cable. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
I made a research on this.
I found that this printer cannot be connected to the computer with USB cable.
Click here search for your printer model and its connectivity options in this document.

Dear Sandytechy20, thank you for your care. But note, that the printer in question is connected to my newer netbook, while an older computer is in the repair. The printer worked quite well with the old one. It was connected with the USB cable. ^-))
