I just connected to FIOS. That is a new modem/router. The printer will not accept the modem wifi password, which consists of lower case letters and numbers. Help, please. I just found that the printer supportd wps connectivity. My modem has a wps button. The printer still not accept that attempt. It seems my old ssid is in there and it is not detecting the new one. Wven though the new one is found when I scan available connections.

You can perform a semi-reset on your printer as follows:
- Turn the printer off with the front panel button
- Disconnect the power cord from the product, and then wait 20 seconds.
- Press and hold # and 6 while reconnecting the power cord.
- Wait 10 seconds, and then release both buttons. The product resets and prints an alignment page.
If this does not resolve the issue you can do a full reset with the above procedure but press the # and 9 keys.
After the reset you will need to re-enter any FAX setup information and phonebook.

The model you have may be the Officejet 6500a, the Officejet 6500 also had physical buttons. To reset the Officejet 6500a see the post here.

I did do a factory reset. It recognizes my SSID. When I push the wps button on my router, it does not connect. When I enter the password (letters and numberrs) it says incorrect password. When I print report is says FAIL froNetwork name found!
Mybe I'll just reinstall the printer?
Thanks for your help.

The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help resolve setting up your wireless connection with your Officejet 6500a printer. Note the printer supports WEP or WPA, for best results you may need to change your router settings from WPA2 to WAP. The document here may help.

There was a firmware update for the Officejet 6500a Plus released in September 2016 that addressed "Improved network connectivity" among other issues. It is available for download from HP here. - To resolve paper mismatch
- Improve the printer responsiveness in Power saving mode

- Resolve Web Services setup issue when ports 5222 and 5223 are blocked
