What is the distinction between a test print page and an internal test page print? Where the **bleep** doctor print a test page did not work but the internal test page did print. I have already uninstalled and installed the software for the printer 4630 HP. What on earth could the problem be? I know that the printer works because I can print do it wirelessly from my iPad and IPhone. Is the vista operating system no longer supported by the HP 4630?

Hello @iampeace - Hope you are well 🙂
I understand that you are able to print the internal test page, but not able to print anything else from Windows Vista PC. Do not worry, I will try me bet to get this issue fixed 🙂
I would start by assigning a static IP and adding a printer port. Follow the steps below:
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
After setting a manual IP address for the printer, add a printer port to Windows that matches this new IP address.
- Search Windows for devices, and then select “Devices and Printers” in the list of results.
- Right-click the name of your printer, and then select “Printer Properties”.
- The Properties window opens.
- Click the “Ports” tab, and then click “Add Port”.
- Select “Standard TCP/IP Port”, and then click “New Port”.
- Type the printer’s IP address that you wrote down earlier, and then click “Next”.
- Select the new “Standard TCP/IP Port” from the list, and then click “OK”.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the setup. Now try printing.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Cheers 🙂

Ty for taking on my problem. I will try your solution tomorrow and get back to you. I'm hopeful but at this point my expectation is not too high. But will try to make the darn thing work from the old acer aspire with vista is. Cheers to you too. Iampeace

Hello @iampeace,
Please try the steps and let me know if that helps.
I would also suggest you provide admin permissions for your printer if the above steps did not work:
- Press the "Windows logo key" + "r" to get “Run" - Type "spool" and press ok.
- Right-click on "PRINTERS" - Select "Properties"
- Select "Security" tab. You will find few entries like "Administrators" and "users", click on "Edit" and give "Full permission" to all the entries. Save / apply the settings.
- Go to "Devices and printers", right-click on the new printer that you installed and select "Printer properties".
- Select "Security" tab. You will find few entries like "Administrators" and "users", click on "Edit" and give "Full permission" to all the entries. Save / apply the settings.
- Restart your computer and then try to print.
I'll watch for your reply!
Good luck 🙂

Hi Again Dvortex.
I typed the wireless address into the web browser which opened up Wireless 802.1 which you referenced but there's nowhere to set up a manual IP address. The black screen with white typeface I am reading is connected. There is no general tab in this window nor can I find any general tab. So I did first step and got access to the EWS and now I'm stuck.
Did I'd you mean the network and sharing Center? And oh be way when I open network and sharing and double click on the printer icon it stalls out. When I right click it showing me the option to install the printer. This is crazy. I'm going to proceed to your next set of instructions and see if I can make headway there.
Ill L get back to you shortly. I hope you respond quickly to this situation as I'm starting to freak out!,,,,

Hello @iampeace,
Thanks for the update.
Please check the below image:
This is how you need to assign the manual IP. Open a web browser, type the IP address of the printer in the address bar to get the EWS as shown in the image above.
Also, did you give the permission as suggested in my above message? Let me know!
Thanks, I'll watch for your reply!
Good luck 🙂
