Hello,
I am experiencing difficulties with printing from remote desktop.

I have pc with Windows 7 and I connect to PC with windows 8 via remote desktop protocol. I have HP LaserJet Professional M1217nfw MFP connected wirelessly to my PC.

In remote desktop, I see printer, but when I try to print, it says parameter is incorrect. I reinstall drivers and now it says nothing, but still print nothing. So basicly I can choose from 2 printer. One says parameter is incorrect, the second one says nothing. Both of them dont print. Any suggestion?

Thanks for help, Lucas

Problem solved:

client machine: remove printer -> add printer -> local (not wireless)

host machine: Computer configuration -> windows components -> remote desktop services -> remote desktop session host -> printer redirection

set "use remote desktop easy print printer driver first" to disabled

restart client machine

Alright, I am going to have to ask a few more questions on what you are experiencing. I don't yet have a clear mental picture.

First of all is the printer attached to the Win7 or the Win8 machine? Secondly, is the environment you are remoting into a normal network or is it a VPN? Have you been able to remote in and print before AND are you normally able to print from the primary computer?

Also, I am going to want you to remove the software from the computer for both of the printers. Make sure that it is removed from Devices and Printers, Program and Features, and the Device Manager. Then once the printer is fully removed from your computer, then I want you to put the software back on - this should fix the duplicate copy.

Let me know, Lucas!

Hello, thank you for your attention.

The printer is attached to the win7, using remote desktop I connect to win8, which is somewhere in datacenter, so I guess it is VPN? I am not really sure. I am able to print from win7, but when I connect to remote desktop and push print in some file, the printer does not print. I was not able to print from remote desktop before, I just started to install it and try it.

Thanks forfurther  advice!

How do you solve this issue in Windows 8/8.1? --- I RDP to a 2008R2 Server, but when I try printing from the re-directed printer it is now giving me "parameter is incorrect", which it was printing before. Printer is a LaserJet P1102w
