LaserJet M401DNe, M402DN

Hi,

Sorry for my horrible english...

I found an error, therefore i tested this one various environments.

Shortly:

If I print an word document for example two copy and i thick collate check box, then i get four copy 🙂

I tested some situation and i saw this problem pcl6 univ driver v6.2.1.20636 (and v6.1.0) version depend.

Operating system, printer firmware, platform (x64 or x32) independ.

But found error only M401, M402 printer, for exmple hp 2055dn is good.

Longer:

I tested Microsoft Word 2007 up-to-date and only clear SP3 environments... independed.

I tested in W8.x (x32) and W10 (x64) operating systems, up-to-date... independed.

I tested M401, M402 various firmware versions... independed, but if i tested hp 2055dn printer this problem not occur.

I tested pcl6 univ driver v6.2.1.20636 this problem found if i thick collate option in word above environments.

I tested pcl6 univ driver v6.1.0.20062 this problem found -""-.

If I tested pcl6 univ driver v6.0.0.18849 this problem not found, independly collate check box.

Certainly if i untick collate check box all verison this problem not occur if i want two copy, i get two copy.

in case all verison, in printer special properties page i saw: hard drive - not found, mopier - not found, then is good settings.

Finally:

This is an v6.2.1, v6.1.0 specific error on M401, M402 printer modell.

sincerely

I don't know the definitive answer to your symptoms, just a few comments:

  • I believe that there have been numerous reports (spanning several different versions of Office and operating system version) of the requested number of copies being squared (so 2 requested prints 4, 3 gets 9, 4 gets 16, etc.).

  • The underlying cause of this is that (for whatever reason), the print job header specifies the required number of copies in the PJL job header, and also specifies that number of copies for each page within the Page Description Language (PCL5 or PCL6 as appropriate) control sequences.

One thing that may be worth trying is:

  • Do not set the required number of copies in the internal Word Print dialogue; leave the value at 1.

  • From that Word Print dialogue, select Printer properties, and set the number of copies within that dialogue; where to set it may differ between drivers - for example, it may be on the Advanced tab.

Hi,

Yesteday i downloaded and tried the hp univ. driver 6.3.0.21178.

I installed this driver on M402 and print again two copies with collate (ms word) ... and again duplicate the copies... i request two copies and i get four copies...

I think this and printer driver error because if i use the 6.0.0 univ. driver, then all right i request two copies, i get two copies.

HP printer driver developpers please correct this problem!!!

Sincerely
