Hello!

I got this nasty problem. I'm running OS X 10.9.5 on MBPro. I have HP LaserJet M1536dnf MFP (printer-scanner-fax-copier) connected over USB. All drivers and software installed and running ok. But. If I scan some document (with HP own utility) and save it to pdf file, through IRIS OCR to make it searchable, then open this pdf file with Preview, and it displays normally, then send it to the printer- it fails. The printer gets halted for about a minute, then it reboots. Like I power cycled it.

The scanned file behaves ok. It's not abnormally large in size - a few MB usually. I can open it with Preview, Scroll, save, etc. And the printer behaves ok with other documents- text files, images, others. But whenever I send a scanned pdf to printer- it fails.

I try to copy the file and print it being logged in under Administrator (I normally use non-admin user account for work). Same result. Below is extract from the printer error log.

I'd really appreciate any help. This thing is very annoying. Thanks!

Hi @radiku,

I understand that you that every time you try to print a scanned PDF document the printer power cycles. I can help you with this.

For some reason the printer isn't understanding the file format, causing it to restart.

Try saving the scan as a PDF through the HP software and try printing it, instead of using the IRIS OCR software.

Please clarify if I misread your post.

Are you using the Full Software from the website? HP LaserJet Pro M1536 Multifunction Printer series Full Software Solution - OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen should show the name.

If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.

Turn the Archive print on from the printer's control panel to see if that will make a difference.

Go to Setup, Service, Archive Print and turn it on.

Try printing it again.

Update the printer's firmware. HP LaserJet Firmware Update Utility.

Please check your private messages for additional steps to try.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.

Have a nice day!
Thank You.
