I can hear my printer trying to grab the paper but it seems that it does not grab right away. When it does take the paper such as address label sheet the printer is printing on the very top of the page and not on the labels.  When I am printing a document the printer should start at the top of the pape but much of the beginning  words on the document are not printed and the rest of the document is printed. for ex.

if this was my document it would print like this.

Today is March 17,2017 it is cold and snowing.

I hope the weather changes soon.

I am looking forward to summer.

I hope you are feeling better.

See you soon.

So what would print would be   " I hope you are feeling better.  See you soon.

So when the printer is trying to grab it misses the first part of the document.

Hope you can help.

Susan

Hi @susieq1959 ,

Thanks for visiting the HP forums. Smiley Happy A Good day to you. Smiley Happy I understand that you have issues with printing from your printer. I will be more than glad to assist you with this.

Fantastic description and super diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. Smiley Happy You are a valued  HP customer and it is paramount to assist you. I also take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. Smiley Happy

For better clarity, I would require more information regarding this to assist you better.

  • Did this happen after a windows or software update?
  • Have you tried to make copies of the same document from the printer?
  • Did you reinstall the printer software and check?

For starters please make direct copies of the same document that you are trying to print without any communication from the computer.

  • Please try to make a few copies directly from the printer without any intervention from the computer. Please place the required document face down on the flatbed scanner and touch the copy button. If it copies fine, then the issue could be software related.

If it copies fine then the issue could be software related. Please run the print and scan doctor utility from this link http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02073861   and it should fix the issue for you.

If  print and scan doctor does not fix the issue, then please uninstall the printer software completely following these steps:

  •  In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.

Then reinstall the full feature software from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-5500-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/5304881/mod... please ensure to select the correct operating system and then proceed to install the printer drivers and software. This should do the trick for you.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Smiley Happy  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. Smiley Happy
