Just in case you have not purchased any more ink, do feel free to try the firmware update as that does not print any thing when it is done.  Then when you get a chance to purchase more ink, you can look into the other documents I have provided and you won't be under pressure to troubleshoot a different problem than your margins in case the firmware doesn't want to install. As long as the printer is not displaying any error messages the firmware should work for you. I hope this helps!

ok so I tried updating from the printer itself with the eprint button and settings and it says my printer has the most current updates

This is what I have decided: if you can manually flip the second page and the margins are correct, it is not a problem with the drivers or the printer.  I have had a look at the duplexer and was able to confirm then that by product design that 1 inch margins on a duplexed document is the minimum margin.  Don't shoot the messenger 🙂 as I could not find specifications on duplex margins, it just must be how the paper pulls it back in that keeps it from printing because that is where the pull-wheel is. Looking over the endless amount of forum posts on this (call it a design-flaw if you will) but this is just how the duplexer was made it seems.

You are very welcome and you would not believe how I think they fixed this.  Of course, they had to completely change their designs but they created this new printer called the Officejet Pro X.  It has a printhead that is an entire page long and the way it pulls paper through it should not have this problem in the future (granted I have yet to play with one to confirm this) but they heard you all I believe. I am anxious to see how this printer performs.

If a new duplexer design is released one day then that may even help current users. If I ever hear of a way to fix this exact problem right now I will think of this thread first.  I am very happy to help save your time trying the impossible even if manually flipping pages isn't really the most economical.  Thank you for your understanding! 🙂
