There haven't been any changes. I just tried to print a page and it won't print. It will print if the sheet is on the printer glass or tray.

Hi @Brentley,
Good Day!! Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! I understand that you require assistance regarding printing issues with the printer which is in idle state. It will be a delighted to assist you. 🙂
Spectacular understanding and commendable description of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this:
- Have you bypassed power strips?
- Did you perform a hard reset on the printer?
For starters please try all the steps from this link: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/cannot-connect-printer-to-mac-status-is-idle/td-p/46560... this should do the trick for you. It is an accepted solution on HP forums provided by an expert for a different computer. But it should still work for your printer also. This should do the trick for you.
Hope this helps. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll always be there to assist you always. 🙂
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
